1. Paddle Through the Caddy Lake Tunnels
Paddle from Caddy Lake into rock tunnels blasted through solid granite during railway construction. It’s a calm, scenic route with a bit of history built right into the landscape.
2. Hike Pine Point Trail
Follow the Whiteshell River on a ~5 km or ~8 km loop trail to Pine Point Rapids. The longer route continues past Acorn Falls and Viburnum Falls, adding a few extra gorgeous sights along the way.

A 48 km hiking trail running from Rennie to Caddy Lake, the Centennial Trail follows the granite ridges and forested terrain of the Whiteshell. With 12 access points along Highway 44, it opens up multiple ways to explore the backcountry.

11. Bike the Blue Highway Mountain Bike Trail
Ride the ~12 km Blue Highway Trail, created and maintained by the South Whiteshell Trail Association. It travels through forest and granite ridge terrain with a mix of flowing singletrack, technical sections, and built skills features that add variety along the way.
12. Visit Alfred Hole Goose Sanctuary
A seasonal hub for spring bird migration, Alfred Hole Goose Sanctuary in the Whiteshell sees geese and other waterfowl move through in large numbers. In summer, the Visitor Centre opens for programming and interpretation, and the on-site walking trail is open year-round.
13. Golf at Falcon Lake Golf Course
This 18-hole course blends natural terrain with well-kept greens for a great round in a beautiful setting. The on-site restaurant is a great spot to grab a meal or a drink after your round, with a view of the course.
14. Take in the Views at Sturgeon Falls Trail / Whiteshell River Suspension Bridge
The Sturgeon Falls trail begins in Nutimik Campground, crossing the Whiteshell River Suspension Bridge before leading to the falls. It’s an easy ~4 km hike with great views of the river and the surrounding landscape.

A 2.8 km or 4.6 km loop that goes through forest and rocky terrain, providing incredible viewpoints. The route passes the falls and rapids, with the longer loop extending toward McGillivray Lake.

18. Horseback Riding at Falcon Beach Ranch
Explore the Whiteshell on horseback with guided trail rides through forest and granite ridge terrain near Falcon Lake. The ranch also offers pony rides for kids, wagon rides, and the UFO Ride, which dives into the famous 1967 Falcon Lake Encounter.
19. Visit the Whiteshell Fish Hatchery
Located on PR 312 between West Hawk Lake and Caddy Lake, the Fish Hatchery produces trout, walleye, and other species used to stock lakes across Manitoba. The interpretive exhibits explore fish biology and how hatchery operations support the province’s fisheries.
20. Hike & Camp at Cabin Lake
This ~4.6 km out-and-back trail leads to a walk-in backcountry campsite surrounded by forest and the lake. The route crosses mixed terrain, including rocky shield outcrops, peaceful forest, grassy lowlands, a beaver dam crossing, and even one of the park’s iconic red bridges. At the site, you’ll find one designated campsite with a picnic table, fire pit, and green toilet.
21. Take in the View at Rainbow Falls
Rainbow Falls is accessed by a ~1.4 km trail. A short adventure that packs a punch, it delivers spectacular views of the falls and a stop that’s hard to walk away from.
22. Hike or Bike Forester’s Footsteps Trail
This 4.2 km trail is great for mountain biking or hiking, with a mix of forest and Canadian Shield landscape. The trailhead includes a picnic shelter and playground for a bit of extra fun before or after your visit.

Dive into the deepest lake in Manitoba! Formed by a meteor impact millions of years ago, it’s no surprise that West Hawk Lake is one of the most popular scuba diving spots in the province.
25. Stop at the Lily Pond
Visit the Lily Pond along Highway 44 throughout the season to see it change. In May, you’ll find yellow lilies; in June, white lilies appear, and both bloom in September.
26. Explore the New Trail Section, Onishkatoon Gwaykaadizin
The Onishkatoon Gwaykaadiziwin trail adds a new 16 km route built and maintained by the South Whiteshell Trail Association. Designed for intermediate hiking and mountain biking, it winds through forest and Canadian Shield terrain. It connects to the broader South Whiteshell trail system, opening up even more ways to explore the park.
